Serving: 12-16 tortillas
Time: 30-35 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 cups masa harina (corn flour)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1-1/2 cups warm water
How to Make Corn Tortillas:
- Add two cups of masa flour and 1/2 tsp of salt into a mixing bowl.
- Add 1 cup of warm water and stir into flour until well absorbed.
- Add the rest of water until flour becomes a soft dough.
- Knead by hand. If dough is still sticky add additional masa flour.
- Separate the dough into golf ball sized chunks. This will make tortillas approximately 4 inches across with a total of 12-16.
- Flatten the dough balls with a tortilla press, flat pan, or a rolling pin. Make sure to not over flatten the tortillas or else they may fall apart while cooking.
- Heat a griddle or skillet to medium heat.
- Add a tortilla to the pan and flip after 30 seconds.
- Continue cooking on both sides or until lightly browned spots begin to form on both sides.
- Serve immediately or place your cooked tortillas in an air tight container and set aside until ready to eat your tacos.
