Homemade Corn Tortillas

Serving: 12-16 tortillas

Time: 30-35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups masa harina (corn flour)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 cups warm water

How to Make Corn Tortillas:

  1. Add two cups of masa flour and 1/2 tsp of salt into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add 1 cup of warm water and stir into flour until well absorbed.
  3. Add the rest of water until flour becomes a soft dough.
  4. Knead by hand. If dough is still sticky add additional masa flour.
  5. Separate the dough into golf ball sized chunks. This will make tortillas approximately 4 inches across with a total of 12-16.
  6. Flatten the dough balls with a tortilla press, flat pan, or a rolling pin. Make sure to not over flatten the tortillas or else they may fall apart while cooking.
  7. Heat a griddle or skillet to medium heat.
  8. Add a tortilla to the pan and flip after 30 seconds.
  9. Continue cooking on both sides or until lightly browned spots begin to form on both sides.
  10. Serve immediately or place your cooked tortillas in an air tight container and set aside until ready to eat your tacos.
